Students are encouraged and given a multitude of performance opportunities.
Public performance helps to boost confidence, gives students goals to work
towards, and is a fun way for students to receive affirmation of their
progress. To accommodate the individual needs, there are various recitals
with different sizes of audiences throughout the year.

Home Visit
Regular home visits will be offered to students and parents through the year
to meet with the program director at the students’ homes to ensure students
are enjoying and making progress with their lessons.
Equipment
Students should have access to at least a small keyboard for warm-ups,
learning new songs, and as accompaniment. This is a relatively simple and
low cost investment, and we offer complimentary assistance in helping you
with the purchasing process. Please contact us before you buy an instrument
so that you can avoid costly mistakes!
Voice is the most unique instrument because it is the
only one that is a part of our body! Having this instrument inside of us
also makes this the most familiar and most expressive one. Whether it is in
front of audiences, singing at church, or singing alone in the car along
with the radio or in the shower, we have all experienced the joy of singing
at one time or another!
Be it singing the latest chart hits from the radio, or singing Broadway
tunes from the best musicals, or singing Italian art songs, our versatile,
experienced and knowledgeable team of instructors can help students reach
their individual goals.
Age
Serious voice studies begin after a child hits puberty and after the voice
changes, usually around age 12 to 13. However, lessons can begin for
students as young as 7 years old. Lessons for the younger students will be
less about voice technique and more on general musicianship, breathing
techniques, and singing on pitch. Please contact us to schedule a free
assessment meeting today!
Lesson Plan
As much as we have sang in our lives, those of us without vocal training are
unaware of the many different muscles and parts of our bodies that we have
to properly control in order to be a great singer. Because each person is
so unique and individual in how they are built, the technical aspect of the
lessons will differ from student to student. However, there is a set
curriculum here at Merry Melody Music Academy to ensure that both fun and
learning is taking place weekly. Lessons will contain the following
components:
Vocal exercise to teach the rudiments of singing
(pitch & intonation, range, breathing, diction, vocal quality)
